Participants in the Bill Koch Youth Ski Program will be able to receive loaner skis this Wednesday (1/4) at the Trenton Fish & Game Club from 5:00- 5:30 PM. Sign-ups will continue throughout the season, but skis are available on a first come-first-serve basis. If this time is inconvenient, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ski season is here and we hope to have trails groomed and ready to go by the holidays. Check the club website and facebook page for grooming reports. We can’t start until after hunting season ends on December 20.
Youth ski lessons will be on Fridays after school and are still $15. The club will loan skis and poles. Skiers will need boots that fit NNN bindings to use club skis. You can download and mail in the 2016-2017 membership form or bring the form when we hand out skis on a date to be announced. (See membership page)
Family or individual memberships will permit skiing at the Game Club anytime. For those who were members last year there is no fee due to the lack of snow; however, we still need you to send in the membership form. Also, any donation you might make would be greatly appreciated. Club monies are spent on providing skis for the youth program, trail improvements and grooming equipment.
Our schedule for this season is shaping up:
1/28/17 Charles Lamendola Classic Ski Races at the Game Club for scholastic, masters and Bill Koch skiers
2/10/17 Dusk/night ski with pot luck dinner to follow
3/4/17 Club ski trip to Garnet Hill Lodge near North Creek
3/11/17 Citizen’s race at Fish and Game Club
3/18-19 Trip to Ottawa to ski Gatineau Park
Snow arrived finally! Trails have received a first pass with the groomer. Base should set up with the cold. Should be great skiing over the weekend! Kids skiing will take place on Friday after school.
The youth ski program will meet this Friday 1/29 at the Game Club.
Unfortunately, the classic race scheduled for Saturday, January 23, 2016 is canceled. Although the trails are groomed, there is not enough snow to set tracks or run a safe race. Stay tuned for more up-to-date grooming reports.
The Bill Koch program starts This Friday, 1/8/2016 at 3:30 pm, trail conditions permitting. If you haven’t signed up the flyer with membership form is attached. Signups are continuing throughout the winter. You can bring the membership form Friday and pick up skis and poles for child. Skiers will need boots that fit NNN bindings for the Club skis.
The trails have been rolled and are very skiable. There are some bare spots and wet areas so use your old skis and exercise caution. There is not enough snow for tracks to be set. A freeze forecast for Monday will help.
